Cassandra Peterson
Cassandra Peterson was raised in Colorado Springs, Colorado. She was born in Manhattan in Kansas. When she was 17 she was the youngest showgirl who appeared on the Las Vegas stage in "Vive Les Girls" which was a show held in the Dunes Hotel. She was influenced by Elvis Presley and traveled to Europe to pursue a career in music and acting. She was the main character in Federico Fellini's Roma (1972) as well as was a regular performer throughout Europe as lead vocalist of the Italian rock group. When she returned to the United States, her musical comedy show Mama's Boys took her on an extensive tour across the United States. After the move to Hollywood and joining The Groundlings, L.A.'s most famous improv comedy group. They remained there for four and a half years. In 1981, she was a candidate for the role of host of a horror show at the Los Angeles television station. Elvira's Movie Macabre (1981), her show, as well as her new character Elvira were instant hits.
