Sean Connery

Sean Connery appeared in many U.K. television and film productions in the 1950s. He was given the role of James Bond in Dr. No in the early 1960s. The film's popularity increased and he continued to play the character as a character in Thunderball as well as Goldfinger. Following his return to film and television, he continued to perform frequently and was awarded an Academy Award for supporting actor in 1988 for The Untouchables. Connery was a part of the adventure film Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen before resigning from acting. Connery was the child of Joe who was truck driver, and Euphamia laundress. Connery grew up in a tiny neighborhood which was famous for its smell of the rubber mill as well as other brewery. Since his parents were unable to afford a crib, the young man was confined to a drawer in his bureau and shared a two-room home with his child. Connery stated, "We were very poor," but he didn't realize how poor, as it was the way everyone lived. Joe only earned only a couple of shillings a week, and they were used mostly on whiskey or gambling.
